    Notes: Blackberry, Hibiscus, Lemongrass

    Process: Natural

    Roast: Light

We’ve worked with coffees from the Kayon Mountain group before, and when we saw a natural process lot available, we jumped at the chance. This one’s a stunner, well-balanced and sweet, with the classic berry notes you expect from Ethiopian naturals, plus layers of hibiscus and bright citrus. It’s a lighter roast that delivers all that fruit-forward complexity without losing its structure.
Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm is a 300-hectare coffee farm in Ethiopia’s Guji zone, run by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012. Located between the villages of Taro and Sewana, the farm has become known not just for its meticulous processing, but also for its commitment to community. Ismael provides free transportation and helps fund local school buildings, and he pays higher wages to attract skilled seasonal workers, which is especially important in a region where mining competes for labor.
Coffee here is shade-grown under indigenous trees and fertilized naturally with compost produced on-site. Thanks to careful cultivation and processing, this lot delivers a consistently excellent cup: expressive, juicy, and incredibly drinkable, an outstanding representation of why Ethiopian naturals are such a popular choice for coffee lovers.
