This naturally processed lot comes from producer Mrs. Tigest Wako in Idedo, Yirgacheffe, our first time working with her coffee through the Single Farmer Project with our importing partners at Cafe Imports. This program focuses on improving traceability in Ethiopia, where coffees are often blended and traded by region through the Ethiopian Coffee Exchange.
Mrs. Wako was born and raised in Idedo and inherited her 7.6-hectare farm from her family. While the farm was once planted with traditional varieties like Kurume and Dega, she has since transitioned much of it to improved varieties such as 74110 and 74112. Her farm sits in the Gedeo zone, home to the famed Yirgacheffe profile, and Idedo is known as one of the top-producing areas for these sought-after coffees.
As one of the few female landowners in her region, Mrs. Wako manages both the day-to-day operations of the farm and the complexities of running a coffee business. With the support of her husband and family, she continues to invest in her farm and her future, with a shared goal of creating opportunities for her children through education.
